ALLISON CARLON, PRESIDENT

Allison Carlon is an attorney in the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice at Williams Mullen. She advises employers on the legal aspects of employee benefit and executive compensation matters arising under ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code. Allison is also familiar with federal and state employment and labor laws, specifically pertaining to employment discrimination and legal requirements under the DC Human Rights Act and Title VII. She previously worked with the District of Columbia Office of Human Rights where her work centered on cases of alleged discrimination in the workplace. Allison received her Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center where she was active with the International Women’s Human Rights Clinic. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University.

BRIAN MARKS, VICE PRESIDENT FOR PROGRAMS

Brian Marks is the founder and president of Employee Benefits of Virginia.  He has over thirty years of broad-based experience in the employee benefits field.  He has extensive experience with national accounts, self-funding, Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangements (MEWAs), and account management. Brian has worked for two of the four major carriers in our market, Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield (now Anthem) and UnitedHealthcare. He has excellent relationships with these organizations and the other key carriers in the market. Brian is very familiar with healthcare delivery, both locally and nationally, and is a frequent author and presenter on the Affordable Care Act. His diverse background and extensive experience translate into creative solutions and strong results for his clients. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Georgia and a Master's at Virginia Commonwealth University. He holds a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation and is a past President of the Richmond Chapter of ISCEBS.

Christian Mosier, VICE PRESIDENT FOR OPERATIONS

Originally from South Hill, Virginia, Christian Mosier is the founder and President of BenX Consulting Group, a full-service employee benefits consulting firm. After working for a Fortune 500 company and a small, local consulting firm, Christian saw an opportunity to infuse technology, transparency, and new solutions into an antiquated industry. BenX was born to challenge the “status quo” when it comes to employee benefits. Outside of work, Christian is very involved in his home church (The Chapel) and sits on the Board of Directors for the Commonwealth Alliance of Rural Colleges. In his spare time, you can catch him losing in fantasy football, eating dessert, or playing various sports like tennis and golf.

SUSAN MURPHEY, VICE PRESIDENT FOR MEMBERSHIP

Susan Murphey is the Director of Workplace Retirement Services with Irongate Capital Advisors. She has over twenty years of experience in the financial services industry with the past five years focused on retirement plan services. She serves business owners and plan participants in the qualified retirement plan arena in the Richmond area and throughout the country. Susan received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Tech. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional, and a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA). She is also a Registered Representative (Series 7) and Investment Advisor Representative (Series 66) of Securian Financial Services Inc.

GEORGE CROWELL, TREASURER

George Crowell is a principal with Harris, Hardy & Johnstone PC. George has more than 20 years of experience in public and governmental accounting. He is a 1993 Cum Laude graduate of Virginia Tech. His focus on information technology and business consulting across a wide variety of industries has given him a unique perspective on the best way for businesses to use information to grow and prosper in a competitive business environment. George has experience in the hotel, retail, medical and construction industries. George has served as Treasurer of Ashland Little League and Treasurer of The American Marketing Association.

CHRIS SILL, SECRETARY

Chris Sill is a Principal of SIMA Benefits Consulting Group and joined the group in 2017. He works with employers across the full spectrum of benefits, from their retirement plan to their health and welfare plans. With prior positions at OneDigital and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Chris has a wealth of experience on both the carrier and consulting sides of the industry. From building and reviewing optimal fund lineups for retirement plans, to collaborating with underwriters and client managers, Chris works closely with his team to craft holistic solutions that fit their clients’ unique needs.

 Chris graduated from the University of Virginia in 2011, where he majored in Government and minored in Economics. He holds Life, Health, and Annuities licenses in the state of Virginia in addition to his Series 65 license.
